There are more clubs than there were ten years ago, the number of stand up comics is greater than ever before, and there are new outlets for comedy popping up on what seems like a constant basis, It seems that everyone wants a piece of the comedy business these days but is comedy really booming? We talked with Brian Volk-Weiss, President of Comedy Dynamics about the state of the comedy industry in 2016. Brian Volk Weiss has been in the business of creating comedy for two decades, and helps to create some of the best albums and specials from some of the top comedians working today.

Forbes Magazine has put out their annual 30 Under 30 list, featuring 600 of the "brightest young entrepreneurs, breakout talents and change agents in 20 different sectors." The Hollywood and Entertainment sector features promising young performers, agents, industry professionals, rappers, writers, producers, singers, and musicians. Six of the entertainment sector picks are comedians including some names we've featured like Pete Davidson, Abby Elliott, and Jerrod Carmichael.

This morning producers announced the lineup for the Sixth Annual annual Gilda's Laughfest. Seth Meyers, Kathy Griffin, Marlon Wayans, Anjelah Johnson and Roy Wood Jr. will headline the 2016 festival along with performances from Jim Norton, Bridget Everett, Denver's own Grawlix (which features Ben Roy, Andrew Orvedahl and Adam Cayton-Holland), Ron Funches, Undateable's Chris D’Elia, Bert Kreischer, Heather McDonald, and Sebastian Maniscalco.
