Forbes Magazine has put out their annual 30 Under 30 list, featuring 600 of the “brightest young entrepreneurs, breakout talents and change agents in 20 different sectors.”  The Hollywood and Entertainment sector features promising young performers, agents, industry professionals, rappers, writers, producers, singers, and musicians.  Six of the entertainment sector picks are comedians including some names we’ve featured like Pete Davidson, Abby Elliott, and Jerrod Carmichael.  Both Davidson and Carmichael made our own 13 going on 30 list featuring young comedians on the rise back in August 2014 and we’ve been following Abby Elliot for quite some time.

Pete Davidson is exploding on Saturday Night Live.  The youngest castmember in the history of the show, Davidson joined before he could even legally order a drink in a bar.  His first night on the show he trended almost immediately on Twitter, and he continues to kill nightly on stand up stages in New York City, often appearing at Gotham Comedy Club’s Tuesday night Comedy Juice show, and appears regularly on SiriusXM shows like Bennington and the Opie Show With Jim Norton.

Abby Elliott is the third generation in her family delivering a huge punch in the comedy world.  Her father is comedy icon Chris Elliott, and her grandfather is Bob Elliott, one half of the legendary radio team Bob and Ray.  Abby is fast bringing her own talents to the family dynasty– she joined Saturday Night Live in 2008 and was a cast member for four years before making appearances on How I Met Your Mother, Inside Amy Schumer and 2 Broke Girls.  She now has a lead role on Bravo’s Odd Mom Out, and Elliott has a lot more to come.

Jerrod Carmichael has been killing as a stand up for years in Los Angeles, and across the country.  His first HBO standup special Love at the Store was directed by Spike Lee in 2014. He also performed at Just For Laughs Montreal, and Moontower in Austin last year, and has been a frequent guest on the Lucas Bros Moving Company.  But it was in August 2015 where Carmichael really cemented his position on the list, with the arrival and success of The Carmichael Show on NBC.  The series was given a quick renewal for a second season, and Jerrod is on his way to a giant career.

Other comedians on the list include UCB alum Rachel Bloom, who writes and stars in her own CW musical comedy series My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend;  Brie Larson who has appeared on The Tonight Show in sketches, and had comedy roles in 21 Jump Street and Trainwreck before her critically acclaimed role in Room this year; and Lily Singh who raps, sings and performs stand up, has also gained a gigantic following on YouTube.

Congratulations to all of the comedians who were recognized as up and coming superstars on this year’s Forbes list.
