Comedians Who Wanted to Rock, and Got Their Big Chance

4.  Sam Kinison, “Wild Thing”

Sam is forever going to be remembered as a comedian who showed up, schooled everybody, and then left way too soon. There’s not another guy before or after his short tenure in comedy that was anything like him, that’s for sure. Kinison’s trademark screaming delivery and no-holds-barred way of talking about issues definitely wasn’t for everybody, but his attitude struck a chord with the hard rock and metal scene of the 80’s. As such, he recorded a slightly tongue-in-cheek cover of the Troggs’ “Wild Thing”. No doubt, he put his own twist on the lyrics and enlisted an army of metal musicians to help him get the job done. Sam might be gone, but he’s sure as hell never going to be forgotten, and that’s a fact.
