In an effort to stand up to the hackers who caused Sony studios to cancel the distribution of “The Interview”, select theaters across the country offered an alternative. That alternative has now also been cancelled.

The Alamo Drafthouse Dallas – Fort Worth, the Capitol Theater in Cleveland, and the Plaza Atlanta in Atlanta decided that since they couldn’t screen “The Interview” starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, the theaters would do showings of the next best thing, “Team America: World Police”. The action comedy using marionettes instead of actors from South Park’s Trey Parker and Matt Stone lampooned former North Korean leader Kim Jong Il.

Deadline reports that those replacement screenings have been cancelled by Paramount Pictures, the studio that owns it. No reason was given by Paramount and the Alamo Drafthouse said “Team America: World Police” screenings were cancelled due to circumstances beyond their control.
