NBC Remaking “Problem Child” As A Series

NBC has ordered a script for a pilot based on the 1990 John Ritter movie, “Problem Child”. The network wants to turn the film into a family TV comedy according to the Hollywood Reporter. The premise centers on a couple who adopt a kid so bad that no parent can handle him. Previous couples who have tried taking him in always end up returning him to the orphanage.
The original “Problem Child” also starred Gilbert Gottfried and Michael Richards. The movie had two sequels and spun off an animated TV series in 1993. Scot Armstrong (The Hangover II, Old School) is writing the script for the single camera sitcom.
