Who’s Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: November 11, 2017

Tonight, SNL turns to one of the hottest names in comedy right now as Tiffany Haddish hosts a brand new Saturday Night Live.

If you’re wondering where you’ve seen Tiffany Haddish before, the easier question might be where haven’t you’ve seen Tiffany Haddish because she’s everywhere. You’ve seen her in the ensemble comedy film “Girls Trip” where she stole the movie from co-stars Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall and she appeared in the Key & Peele comedy feature, “Keanu“. On television, she was one of the break out stars, along with Lil Rel Howery, on the NBC sitcom “The Carmichael Show” starring comedian Jerrod Carmichael and she’ll also have a co-starring role in the new Tracy Morgan TV series, “The Last O.G.” premiering next spring on TBS.

Nationally and internationally, Tiffany was named one of the 100 Most Influential African Americans by Root.com in its annual list, the Root 100 and also as one of Variety’s “10 Comics To Watch” at the 2017 Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. Tiffany got a coveted spot on the JFL staple “The Nasty Show” at the 2016 festival.

She’s also appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Comedy Jam (performing a version of “Proud Mary” that brought the house down), @midnight, Chelsea Lately and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. And this summer, she premiered her debut comedy hour, the Showtime Comedy Club stand up special “Tiffany Haddish: She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood” where she dubbed herself, “the Last Black Unicorn”, which is also the title of her new memoir due out this December. See? Tiffany Haddish really does do it all.

Tiffany will be a first time host tonight. She’ll be the 3rd first-timer Lorne Michaels has used in the host position in only 5 shows so far this season and the Last Black Unicorn will be using all her stand up and comedy acting skills to make her SNL debut a success. Tiffany Haddish will be joined by a musical guest with considerable Saturday Night Live experience, Taylor Swift has been a previous SNL musical guest who also appeared in sketches and then she hosted the show in 2009. So watch for Taylor to make her way into a sketch or two tonight with Tiffany. As of tonight, Tiffany Haddish will become only the 12th black woman to host Saturday Night Live in its 43 year history. Expect that to come up in Tiffany’s monologue as she enters the history books along side women like Oprah, Cicely Tyson, Maya Rudolph and Halle Berry who have all headlined Saturday Night Live.

Looking at what else the SNL writers might have in store for Tiffany Haddish, this week’s news included fellow comedian Louis CK confessing to sexual misconduct with women he’s worked with in the past and how every studio, firm and network is bailing out on Louis. Perhaps there’ll be a new digital short, featuring the opening to “Louis” on FX, but with more of a sexual misconduct twist. Also, the new season of “Stranger Things” started streaming on Netflix while the SNL cast was off during mid-to-late October. The cast members have been known to impersonate the “Stranger Things” kids in the past, so that could be on tonight’s roster of sketches. Other things in the news included, President Obama reporting for jury duty, the ESPN “30 for 30” film, “Nature Boy” featuring Ric Flair which broke ratings records for the series and who knows if Taylor Swift might jump into a sketch about the singer addressing her feud with Kanye West on a track on her new album.

In the first promo for tonight’s brand new Saturday Night Live, cast member Aidy Bryant takes host Tiffany Haddish for a tour and we learn what happens when the wrong buttons are pushed just outside Studio 8-H. In the second promo released by NBC, Tiffany Haddish and musical guest Taylor Swift find a way to retroactively collaborate on Taylor’s new album, “Reputation” which was released yesterday.

Tiffany Haddish hosts a new Season 43 episode of Saturday Night Live tonight at 11:30pm on NBC.
