This week in late night, we have a host who can’t make it in to work, so he’s calling in some favors from his celebrity friends to help carry the late night load. James Corden has so much going on with his movie career that he’s going to be giving his TV spot on the Late Late Show to guest hosts all this week and part of next week as well.
Corden is currently making the rounds to promote the film version of the hit Broadway musical, “Cats,” which he stars in as Bustopher Jones. And he’s got his work cut out for him, to present “Cats” as a wonderful, family, holiday experience and not the bizarre creep-fest it appears to be in the trailers playing everywhere. The host of the Late Late Show is also shooting another movie during his time off. He’s filming the upcoming movie production of “The Prom,” another Broadway hit which is making its way to the big screen.
The list of guest hosts for the Late Late Show is wide variety of performers. On Monday, Alicia Keys is guest hosting. She has hosting experience being the emcee of the Grammy Awards. On Tuesday, it’s the man who’s everywhere right now promoting his new album, “Fine Line“, Harry Styles. Wednesday’s guest host on the Late Late Show is Anthony Anderson from “Black-ish” on ABC. And Jeff Goldblum hosts on Thursday night, which should be interesting to say the least.
Next week’s guest hosts on the Late Late Show include Chance the Rapper, Ken Jeong, and Oscar-nominated actor and comedian Melissa McCarthy., all filling in for James Corden. Those names are in no particular order according to when they’re guest hosting.
Looking at the highlights for this week, we’re going out of chronological order this week because we’re crazy excited for Tuesday night here at the IBang. One of our favorite comedians who you know from “Billions” on Showtime, “The Bonfire” on SiriusXM and most recently the 6th Annual Bennington Family Thankgiving Show at the Hard Rock Cafe, Dan Soder will be performing stand up on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Dan Soder will be appearing on Late Night to promote his brand new comedy special, “Dan Soder: Son of Gary” which just premiered this past weekend on HBO and is currently available on HBO On Demand and HBO Go. The new hour special “Son of Gary” was debuted to rave reviews and if the comments on social media are any indicator, Dan Soder’s special is a hit!
Monday is a strong night for late night comedy. Michelle Wolf and Jack Black are both booked on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Ali Wong is on the Late Late Show. You may need to give your DVR some time off after all the work is has to do on Monday and the rest of this week.
On Wednesday, Kevin Hart is on Jimmy Kimmel Live. We know that Kimmel has no problem asking awkward questions and making his guests feel uncomfortable, so it looks like we may get to the bottom of everything happened the night of Kevin Hart’s horrendous car accident that left him hospitalized. You can check out our coverage of Kevin Hart’s new Barracuda being wrecked on the Interrobang.
Looking at the weekend, prepare for “Ivanka Trump” to make an appearance in the Saturday Night Live – Cold Open. Scarlett Johansson who regularly imitates the famous First Daughter on Saturday Night Live is hosting a brand new SNL this Saturday and she’ll most likely being doing her Ivanka impression. It will be interesting to see how this episode of SNL goes with Scarlett working with her fiancée, SNL co-head writer and Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost.
Have a great week everyone! Happy Holidays and may all your nights be late ones!
