Sebastian Maniscalco has been a runaway comedy train, which is why this year the Just For Laughs award committee unanimously chose him as their Stand Up Comedian of the year. Also on the list to receive top awards at this years Just for Laughs Comedy Festival are Maria Bamford who is the Breakout Comedy Star of the Year, Silicon Valley creators Mike Judge and Alec Berg named Writers of the Year, and Aziz Ansari, who takes the title of Comedy Person of the Year.

It's still very Lorne Michaels in casting, but far more Carol Burnett in feel and yet still current...just a little more adult. The series highlight over the course of a great hour undoubtably goes to Larry David's interview with Marty Short's infamous character Jimminy Glick.

Lady Dynamite has been a long time coming and, it’s funny. Maria Bamford’s new semi-autobiographical Netflix series is well crafted, and about as fun as anything you've ever seen on television. It won't be experienced by as many people as saw Trainwreck this year, and that's a shame, because its not only fun and funny, it's also silly and poignant, and even important.
