T.J. Miller and His Sketch Group Launch New Podcast, Heavyweight
Laughly, the comedy-specific streaming app that’s hoping to change the comedy game, has announced a new sketch comedy podcast that launched on their service today. Called HEAVYWEIGHT, the show is a monthly pre-written sketch comedy-style podcast named after the Chicago comedy troupe of the same name. Each episode will feature the four hosts, plus special guests each month.
HEAVYWEIGHT the group consists of comedians T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley, The Gorburger Show), Nick Vatterott (Conan, Comedy Central), Brady Novak (Community, Raising Hope) and Mark Raterman (Second City, New York Television Festival). The group has been around since 2004, cutting its collective teeth in the Chicago comedy scene and beyond ever since. Their act has been described as “a stream-of-consciousness sketch show where nonsense, characters and hyperbole all dance together drunk on insanity.” Strong words, to be sure, but after seeing these guys in action, it’s hard to deny the chemistry and hilarity that they create. Check out some footage of them performing at Chicago Sketch Fest way back in 2007, then imagine that but like, even better:
To check out the show, download the Laughly app on your phone or tablet. Laughly.com will feature an interactive page for the show that will provide fans with new episodes, behind-the-scenes video and commentary, bonus video and photo content, information about the comedians and much more. To keep up with the HEAVYWEIGHT crew, you can also follow them on Twitter @HeavyweightGuys.
