Welcome to October in late night. The weather is starting to cool off, the leaves are changing and scary Jack-o-Lanterns seem to be everywhere already. Wait. My bad. That’s just the President on every cable news channel. Let’s get to this week in late night comedy.
On Monday, your DVR is going to hate you for making it work overtime. Every network late night show host, plus Conan O’Brien, has at least one funny guest booked for Monday. Be sure to check the full listings below, but some of the highlights include the incredibly funny Kyle Kinane with a return appearance on Conan, there’s a Python on the Late Show, one of the funniest married couples ever on the Tonight Show and a newly crowned Primetime Emmy winner on JKL. Plus, SNL‘s Kenan Thompson is on Late Night with Seth Meyers and maybe we’ll find out some more details about his possible exit from Saturday Night Live to do his own sitcom on NBC.
On Tuesday, TBS is the place to be in late night. On Conan, Team Coco welcomes the hilarious Pete Holmes back to the show. Pete always makes for a very memorable guest booking on Conan, but if that wasn’t enough, Conan O’Brien will also have a stand up performance from Ted Alexandro whose 3rd hour long comedy special will be released later this week on Thursday, October 4th. His special, “Ted Alexandro: Senior Class of Earth” is available for pre-order from All Things Comedy and will also be available from Vimeo On Demand. You can watch a trailer for “Senior Class of Earth” here on the Interrobang along with getting information on how to see it. Plus Ted, who never shies from any issue happening in America, released some footage of a performance at the world famous Comedy Cellar in NYC where he takes on the cultural response to Bill Cosby and the Louis C.K. controversy.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live this Wednesday, Devin Field will be making his national late night television stand up debut. You might ask, how did Devin who has never performed on late night TV score a gig with Kimmel who rarely has stand ups booked on his show? Well, Devin is a writer for JKL, so that helped. Plus, he’s so hilarious which never hurts when booking a late night gig. The amazing part is that he hasn’t been on Kimmel by now. You’ve seen plenty of Devin’s comedy already. He’s also written for “Workaholics” on Comedy Central and truTV’s “Billy on the Street” starring Billy Eichner.
Thursday in late night, we have a comedy legend on the Tonight Show when Billy Crystal sits down with Jimmy Fallon and then one of the hottest tickets in comedy today, John Mulaney who sells out theaters across the country, returns to Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC. Then we wrap up the week with a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live with a first-time host. SNL‘s first-timer this weekend is Awkwafina who has enjoyed an amazing Summer by appearing two of the biggest films this year, the remake of “Ocean’s 8” and the independent darling, “Crazy Rich Asians.”
Have some more caffeine and stay up late so you don’t miss anything this week.
