Jay Pharoah is an actor and stand-up comedian. With six seasons as a cast member of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” Pharoah is best known for his wide array of uncanny celebrity impressions, including President Barack Obama, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Stephen A. Smith, Kanye West and Chris Tucker, as well as his recurring character of school principal Daniel Frye.
Picked up to series by Showtime early this year, Pharoah stars in the new half-hour comedy White Famous, executive produced by Jamie Foxx and Tom Kapinos (Californication). Between headlining comedy clubs around the country and shooting his new series, Pharoah co-hosted the 2016 American Music Awards with supermodel Gigi Hadid in November.
In 2015, Pharoah and First Lady Michelle Obama teamed up at the White House to create a viral rap video, “Go to College,” promoting the value of higher education. Later that year, he debuted his first stand-up comedy special, “Jay Pharoah: Can I Be Me?”, on Showtime. His past feature film credits include Get a Job with Bryan Cranston and Miles Teller, Ride Along with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube and Top Five with Chris Rock, among others.
Pharoah developed his comedy skills at a young age, training in local comedy clubs. He went on to tour in the U.K., U.S. and Montreal. He has released a series of music videos through Above Average including “Bad Kisser,” a parody on Usher’s “Good Kisser,” and “Problems.” Pharoah’s previous Kanye West parody, “I Am a Dog,” became an instant viral video reaching over a million views within the first week.

LIVE STAND UP COMEDY WEDNESDAY 4/19

Show: Stand-Up On The Spot: The Improvised Stand-Up Show
Venue: New York Comedy Club
Location:
241 E. 24th Street NYC
Time: 9:15pm
Description of Show and Lineup:

Stand-Up On The Spot: The Improvised Stand-Up Show has been entertaining audiences around LA since 2010. Comedians go up with no prepared material, ask the audience for suggestions, and create Stand-Up on the Spot based off the suggestions. This is the only stand-up show where you, the audience, get to suggest what the comedians talk about.
Since then, the show has expanded to include a live DEATHSQUAD podcast and has been featured at comedy festivals around the country. Now Stand Up on The Spot comes to NYC! Hosted by Robby Slowik, the New York edition has been featured in Village Voice, Time Out NY, The Interrobang and the New York Comedy Festival.
It’s a little bit of both. All the performers are Stand-Up comedians, but like at an Improv show, YOU get to yell out suggestions.  And then they craft a whole new bit right there, thanks to you!  There’s no teams, no “yes, ands” and no pre-rehearsed material.
Oh yeah, it’s VERY funny.  We bring in some of the smartest, hardest working comedians we know.  Their minds are always looking for the funny in everything and many of the bits that start out on our show go on to become part of their regular act, and even on albums and specials!Featuring:
Robby Slowik
Emma Willmann
Dan St Germain
John Fugelsang
Wil Sylvince
Brendan Sagalow
Rosebud Baker
Casey Balsham
