Ari Shaffir Announces New Double Special Coming to Netflix Next Month

Ari Shaffir has just announced some exciting news via Twitter: He’s got a new double special coming to Netflix next month, on July 18th to be exact. Called Double Negative, the two sides will be called Children and Adulthood. The specials will have a very specific theme, with the first part describing the pros and cons (mostly cons) to having kids, and the second part describing the ideal life that one simply cannot live while raising a family. Anyone familiar with Shaffir’s comedy and lifestyle knows that the comic has no interest in “breeding” and, as indicated by his recent months-long, spur-of-the-moment trek across Asia, he doesn’t like to be held back by anything either, so he’s sure to deliver both sides of this special with passion and sincerity.

Shaffir is thrilled about the move, which will allow his material to be viewed by more people outside the U.S. and will “legitimize [him] as a comic” by elevating him to the pantheon of Netflix comics which includes Bill Burr, Joe Rogan, Louis C.K. and Chris Rock, among others. You can check out his announcement tweet below.

The Double Negative two-parter will be Shaffir’s fourth stand-up special, following 2015’s Paid Regular, 2013’s Passive Aggressive, and 2012’s Revenge for the Holocaust.
