Will Forte Tells Seth Meyers How He Got The Nickname Uncle Stinky

Fans of Will Forte might know him as MacGruber, career candidate Tim “Boo” Calhoun or Phil Tandy Miller, The Last Man on Earth. His niece and nephew have a different name for him, Uncle Stinky. Will told the story of becoming known as Uncle Stinky on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night. It all came from a text he got from his sister after the 6 and 7 year olds visited him. Will shared the text in a tweet (see below). The legend of Uncle Stinky isn’t as complex as Batman or Spider-Man’s origin stories, in fact, it’s so simple you’ve probably figured it out by now. He farts around the kids.

The good news (?) about Uncle Stinky is that Will’s love of what Seth Meyers calls “the gaseous arts” aren’t restricted just to family members. Co-workers get to enjoy Uncle Stinky’s antics as well. Will Forte actually had a bet with co-star Mary Steenburgen that he could fart on set every day that they were shooting The Last Man on Earth. It’s a bet that Will Forte won which is impressive because the emissions had to be audible.

Will Forte also explained how gracious Mary Steenburgen is as a friend and a host and how during a road trip, Forte and Last Man‘s Kristen Schaal decided to pay back Mary’s kindness by bringing her and her husband Ted Danson a special gift after days of driving. Watch the clips below to find out what the gift was and Ted Danson’s reaction to it.

You can see new Season 3 episodes of “The Last Man on Earth” on Sundays at 9:30pm on FOX
