Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of November 30, 2020

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, Conan’s off, SNL is on and “Oh, Hello”…Kroll & Mulaney highlight late night.

Last week, we talked about Conan O’Brien running out his TBS contract and going to HBO Max when he’s wraps up his basic cable deal next June. It looks like Conan is going to fill those few remaining months on TBS with lots of vacation time.

The “Conan” show is off again this week, but he’s leaving us with some very funny repeats. On Monday, Team Coco has a rerun with Saturday Night Live‘s breakout star Heidi Gardner. Then on Tuesday, Conan O’Brien has “The Machine” Bert Kreischer on a repeat show. Finally on Thursday, Simon Pegg visits Conan virtually on an encore presentation.

We have some late night good news and some late night bad news this week. The good news is that Nick Kroll and John Mulaney who you may know as Gil Faizon (Kroll) and George St. Geegland (Mulaney) from their smash hit Broadway show “Oh, Hello” based on the “Kroll Show” sketches, are both appearing in late night this week.

The bad news is that they won’t be together. They’re on separate shows on separate nights of the week. But any late night schedule that includes both Nick Kroll and John Mulaney works for us. Nick Kroll will be joining Jimmy Fallon for a virtual conversation on Monday’s Tonight Show. On Tuesday, watch for John Mulaney who normally sticks to the Tonight Show or the Late Show, in a rare ABC appearance when he visits Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Tuesday night, Jimmy Fallon welcomes a modern-day comedy team to the Tonight Show, that is if they time-travel to modern day times. William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan will be Jimmy Fallon’s guests on Tuesday night. You know them better as Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves respectively. They starred in the pandemic release of “Bill & Ted Face The Music.” So, if you love time travel comedy, check out the Tonight Show Tuesday night.

In non-comedy highlights this week, Stephen Colbert made a big late night score with his Barack Obama interview while the former Prez was out promoting his new book, “A Promised Land.” Colbert will be airing part deux of his sit down with the 44th President of the United States on Monday night’s edition of the Late Show on CBS. And Thursday on CBS, James Corden has the brilliant Rufus Wainwright on a new Late Late Show just in time for the holidays. Thank you for the early gift James Corden.

And here’s a couple of rerun highlights. On Monday night, if you’ve got insomnia, stay up and watch the very funny wife and husband comedy duo of Natasha Leggero & Moshe Kasher on a repeat episode of A Little Late with Lilly Singh. Then in a Tuesday rerun, Seth Meyers has Leslie Jones on a Late Night repeat for a post-SNL exit interview with the comedy dynamo.

The late night week ends on Saturday with a brand new Saturday Night Live. After 3 weeks off, SNL is live with host Jason Bateman, the Golden Globe winner for “Arrested Development” and Emmy Award winner for “Ozark” on Netflix. Jason Bateman will be hosting Saturday Night Live for his second time. His SNL musical guest will be country star Morgan Wallen.

That’s the nice thing about late night television after Thanksgiving. It’s not all leftovers.
