We’re back this week to tell you “Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy”. Here’s your weekly highlights.
Monday night has so many funny late night guests, it should be its own comedy festival. The evening starts at 11pm et with international comedy superstar Eddie Izzard on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah to promote his “Eddie Izzard: Wunderbar” tour which is headed across America this summer. Plus, there’s stand up comedy on a Monday night with Phil Hanley performing on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Phil has been seen on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Late Late Show, @midnight and The Pete Holmes Show. Monday evening, he adds the Tonight Show to his already impressive credits. Tuesday, be sure to catch a nap so you can stay up for Last Call with Carson Daly. Guests on Last Call include Baron Vaughn & Open Mike Eagle, hosts of “The New Negroes” on Comedy Central. The series is a stand up / music hybrid which Baron also calls, “a space for people to exchange new ideas.” The series premiered late last month on Comedy Central and new episodes of “The New Negroes” air on Friday nights at 11pm et on Comedy Central. Thursday night is Full Cast Night in late night. On the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the woman who holds or has tied every awards record in television, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast “Veep” are on hand to celebrate wrapping up the HBO comedy after 7 hilarious seasons. The extended series finale airs Sunday, May 12th at a special time, 10:50pm et on HBO. And over on JKL in a non-comedy Thursday highlight, Jimmy Kimmel has the fanboys and fangirls covered as he continues his Marvel movie monopoly with the cast of the upcoming summer superhero movie, “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”
Also on Thursday, Conan O’Brien who’s been known to go international for his comedy, brings some international comedy home with his guest Rose Matafeo. The New Zealand comedian was a smash hit at this past year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, winning the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for her show “Horndog.” Rose who calls herself an “extroverted introvert,” but it was The Guardian newspaper who called her “a near-perfect comedian”. Watch for her when she’s Conan’s only guest on Thursday night.
And on Saturday, it’s the next-to-the-last SNL of the season. The host will be Emma Thompson with musical guests, Jonas Brothers. It’s Emma’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live and she’ll be on stage at Studio 8-H to promote her upcoming big budget summer sci-fi comedy, “Men in Black: International“, the rebooting of the Tommy Lee Jones / Will Smith comedy hit movie. “MIB: International” opens in theaters domestically on Friday, June 14th.
