Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, it’s last call for Jim Jefferies, Kevin Hart’s latest comedy will make you cry, and Rory Scovel learns to live without fear.

Late night nation, get ready to stay up late and laugh. This week’s choice of comedy guests appearing on our late night talk shows is a little lighter than usual. But the lack of quantity is definitely made up for in quality. There are some big names in comedy appearing on the late night shows this week that you’re going to love. Here’s the highlights.

The week starts strong with America’s favorite Australian comedian Jim Jefferies appearing on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Jefferies is getting ready to kick off a major comedy tour across his home continent, but it’s what Jim Jefferies is NOT doing that’s interesting.

First off, Jim Jefferies has quit drinking. So, he’ll probably bring up this health choice when he’s talking to Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. The Aussie comic says he wishes he had taken better care of himself when he was younger and has given up alcohol for good due to the early onset of psoriatic arthritis. Another thing Jim Jefferies is not doing is being a judge on the newest season of “Australia’s Got Talent.”

Jim says he was all set to be a judge on the popular talent competition show when he discussed with producers, but all of a sudden communication stopped between Jim and the show. Jim Jefferies even offered to get comedy icon and Monty Python member John Cleese to also judge, but was told “no thank you.” Hopefully, he reveals more about this on the Tonight Show on Monday.

Kevin Hart will be on the Tonight Show on Tuesday night to discuss his new film. His new movie is intended to make you both laugh and sob uncontrollably. Coming soon to Netflix, Kevin will star in “Fatherhood” where he plays a dad who finds himself raising his little girl by himself after the death of his wife. Two things we’ve noticed here. First, it would probably help not to name your movie after a book written by Bill Cosby. Just saying.

And secondly, this premise sounds a lot like the one used on Kenan Thompson’s first year sitcom, “Kenan“. Again, just saying. Kevin and Kenan can work this out amongst themselves. “Fatherhood” starring Kevin Hart along with Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Melody Hurd and Paul Reiser will be streaming on Netflix in time for Father’s Day. It’s available Friday, June 18th.

Thursday night, we recommend Jimmy Kimmel Live when his guest will be Rory Scovel. Now if what they say is true, and public speaking is the general public’s biggest fear, then Rory Scovel has found a way to take that phobia to 11.

Rory’s new special is also part documentary and it will be available on YouTube, but that’s not the scary part. Rory Scovel is attempting to do completely improvised comedy sets over a span of 6 nights at Atlanta’s Relapse Theatre. The name of the docu-special is “Rory Scovel: Live Without Fear.” The special will also include footage of Rory preparing for these shows. Even though what he won’t be preparing is material. The new Rory Scovel special, “Live Without Fear” will be available on YouTube starting on June 24th and you can see Rory tell Jimmy Kimmel all about it on JKL on Thursday.

Friday night, it’s looks like Bill Maher has been given the all clear by HBO to return to his show, “Real Time.” Bill has missed the past two weeks of his live HBO comedy series because he was diagnosed with the Covid virus, but was asymptomatic. Looks like the two week quarantine will be wrapping up in time for Bill to return to Real Time on Friday evening.

Also on Friday, Seth Meyers has a rerun that we would like to recommend. It’s a repeat of Late Night featuring one of our very favorite people, Cue Card Wally from Saturday Night Live and many, many other late night shows. You can catch an encore of Seth Meyers’ interview with the guy that keeps SNL moving and talking on Saturday nights this Friday.

Have a great week, every booty! Wait, that was suppose to be “everybody”. My cue card was wrong! Wally!!!
