Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, Kimmel gets a Patton, while Fallon is Rocked, and Conan has a Burr.

Hello to the late night shift! What a schedule this week in late night. The biggest names in stand up comedy are appearing on the after-dark talk shows all this week. Imagine the price you would pay to see these names on stage. But you’re getting them all for the exorbitant price of your cable bill.

We start our highlights on Monday when Patton Oswalt appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Patton is the voiceover star of the new adult, Marvel comic book, claymation, comedy series ” M.O.D.O.K.” In case you wanted to know, M.O.D.O.K. stands for “Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing.” Patton Oswalt is the voice of M.O.D.O.K. who is a Marvel super-villain at his day job, but then has a wife, kids and a suburban life waiting for him when he comes home. “M.O.D.O.K.” debuts this Friday, May 21st on Hulu.

Tuesday, Chris Rock is Jimmy Fallon’s guest on the Tonight Show. Chris is hitting most of the late night shows to promote his next step into the crime drama portion of his film career. Chris Rock is co-starring with Samuel L. Jackson in “Spiral: From the Book of Saw“, or “Spiral” for short. It’s the latest of the “Saw” movies. It’s hard to imagine this, but yes, “Spiral” is the 9th “Saw” movie. It’s currently in theaters everywhere theaters are open.

On Wednesday, watch for Patti Harrison, a comedian making her leap to the big screen in the new movie “Together Together” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Patti stars opposite Ed Helms in the comedy-drama movie and she’s getting rave reviews for her performance. “Together Together” is available now On Demand.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, if you’re a fan of the Saturday Night Live Christmas song, “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” from 2000, you’ll want to watch the Tonight Show. Horatio Sanz who performed the song with Jimmy Fallon along with Chris Kattan and Tracy Morgan, will be a guest on the Tonight Show on Wednesday. We don’t know if they’ll perform the holiday tune, but be ready for Christmas in May just in case.

Thursday night, Conan O’Brien has about a month of shows left on TBS and he’s going out with some great guests booked for his final days of the “Conan” show. This Thursday, he has one of his favorite guests when Bill Burr comes to visit and say goodbye. Burr has a new tour happening and kicks off July 2nd. This is a tour that offers some make-up dates for shows that were cancelled due to the worldwide pandemic.

When you check the full listings below (which you always should), you’ll see Ryan O’Connell is listed twice on Thursday. Through the magic of video recording, he’ll be on both Late Night with Seth Meyers and A Little Late with Lilly Singh on Thursday. Ryan O’Connell is the creator and star of “Special” on Netflix. The series featuring the only disabled gay actor as its lead, premieres its new season on Thursday, May 20th.

Looking at the upcoming weekend, on Friday night, we may get a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher. Then again, we may not. Last week’s new Real Time was cancelled due to Bill Maher being diagnosed with the Covid virus. Usually, the quarantine period between being diagnosed and back on the air is two weeks. So, depending on when Bill Maher first tested positive for the Coronavirus, he may be back on HBO this Friday or we may get another cancellation.

Saturday, it’s the season finale of Saturday Night Live. This wraps up the 46th season for the Emmy Award winning variety series. The host for the season finale will be Anya Taylor-Joy who stars in the critically acclaimed Netflix mini-series, “The Queen’s Gambit.” Anya Taylor-Joy won a Golden Globe award for her performance as the troubled chess prodigy, Beth Harmon. The musical guest for the SNL season finale is Lil Nas X.

And since the show is over on Saturday, we can begin speculating on who in the SNL cast gets to come back for season 47. That’s always fun.

Have a great summer SNL.
