We’re still a couple of weeks away from the arrival of Spring, but that’s not stopping some of late night talk show hosts from scheduling some reruns and heading out on an early Spring Break. The NBC late night talkers, Fallon, Meyers and Daly, are all out of the office this week, but have scheduled repeats of shows featuring some of their funniest guests. This week, the Tonight Show has reruns with guests Tony Hale, Adam Sandler, Stephen Merchant, Jo Firestone and Steve Martin & Martin Short in an appearance you don’t want to miss, especially since you a chance to catch it again. Seth Meyers has encore Late Night episodes with Penn & Teller and John Goodman while he’s out and Last Call has a lineup of reruns including appearances from Flula Borg and Matt Walsh. Be sure to check the full listings below so you don’t miss anything the second time around.
Conan O’Brien is on the job and his shows are all comedy this week with his new half-the-size, but all the entertainment version of “Conan.” This week, the comedians getting Conan’s undivided attention as his one-and-only guest each night include Deon Cole, one of Scotland’s funniest exports Daniel Sloss, the star of three Comedy Central specials Rachel Feinstein and the executive producer of “Crashing” on HBO and the producer, writer and director of the upcoming, untitled Pete Davidson project, Judd Apatow.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is doing another week of specialty episodes this week. Trevor will be taking in dept looks at some of his favorite topics including President Trump and the DC swamp that still seems quite full and not quite as drained as we were once promised. On Monday, the Daily Show looks back at the longest government shut-down in U.S. history that the country just experienced late last year with the “Daily Show: A Total Shutshow.” Good times. On Tuesday, it’s the “Daily Show: This Is U.S.” which is a focus on strange, notable local news stories. Wednesday brings us the “Daily Show: The Russian Scandal: The Creme de la Kremlin III.” And finally on Thursday, it’s the “Daily Show: You’re Fired: In Memoriam Vol. 2,” a look at another round of Trump appointees who either resigned or were fired. The Trump revolving door of administration employees never has a shut-down. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights Monday through Thursday at 11pm on Comedy Central.
In a throw-back booking this week of the non-comedy kind, James Corden has booked the recently reunited Jonas Brothers as his guests every night this week. This goes back to the old style of talk shows like “The Mike Douglas Show” which would have a special guest co-host for entire week of episodes. So, if you want to see what a giddy, 40 year old British tween looks like gushing all over Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas, set your DVRs for the Late Late Show with James Corden this week.
Finally, it’s a brand new Saturday Night Live this week hosted by Idris Elba known best as Stringer Bell on “The Wire” and Thor’s buddy Heimdall in the Marvel Comics movies. Idris Elba will be hosting with musical guest Khalid. So far, no other new SNL episodes are scheduled yet for Season 44, so this may be it for the current run of live shows for a few weeks for Saturday Night Live, so enjoy the new material while Lorne Michaels is offering it.
Stay up and enjoy all the late night comedy this week and remember, sleep is for the weak.
