Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?
This week, Seth Meyers books Trump (kind of), Bill Maher returns and late night gets ready for Inauguration Day.
On Wednesday, the United States of America will have a new President. And yes, that goes for the knuckle-draggers trashing the Capitol building too. So, as the country gets ready to say farewell to the walking punchline that is Donald Trump, what better way to kick off the week on Monday than booking the best Trump impersonator in the business in late night.
Anthony Atamanuik who has been a much better Donald Trump than even Donald Trump was for the past 4 years, will appear on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night. Let’s hope he’ll be in full Trump-drag for his appearance. Tony starred as the 45th President on Comedy Central’s “The President Show” and embarked on one of 2016’s most popular comedy tours with James Adomian (as Senator Bernie Sanders) on the “Trump vs. Bernie Tour“.
Also on Monday, Conan O’Brien is back with new shows for the first time this year. And Team Coco is back with a legend. Conan’s virtual guest on Monday will be the iconic Bob Newhart. The comedy and television star will be promoting that his ground breaking comedy routines from the 1960’s are now available on several platforms including Amazon Prime, iTunes and Google Play, among others.
As mentioned, Wednesday is Inauguration Day and late night will be ready. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will go live that night after your local news on CBS with plenty of pundit guests. Meanwhile over at ABC, Jimmy Kimmel Live has booked John Oliver from “Last Week Tonight” on HBO to take the JKL audience through the day’s events including Joe Biden being sworn in and Donald Trump sneaking out of the White House earlier that morning.
It’s the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon which scored the best Inauguration Day guest. Jimmy will be welcoming the incomparable Fran Lebowitz on Wednesday. She has not exactly kept her feelings about Donald Trump to herself and Fran is the perfect person to have on the Tonight Show to say all the things that Jimmy Fallon never would himself.
Thursday night, Stephen Colbert welcomes the director of some of the country’s favorite comedies. Frank Oz will be a guest on the Late Show on Thursday night. You know his films “What About Bob?” starring Bill Murray, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine and “Little Shop of Horrors” starring everybody.
Frank Oz will be on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his latest documentary project called “In & of Itself.” Frank also directed the stage version of the show starring Illusionist Derek DelGaudio, which has been called as much art as it is illusion. DelGaudio will also be on the Late Show on Thursday night.
Friday night, Bill Maher is back with new episodes of Real Time on HBO. By the time, Bill goes live this coming Friday, America will have already had a new President for a couple of days, so let’s see how Bill Maher and the Real Timers handle life without Donald Trump. Like the a lot of the country, boring sounds pretty nice right about now.
Have a great week and on Wednesday, don’t forget to set your clocks ahead to Biden Time.
