Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?
This week, Bill Burr gets things started, Seth hosts the former President, and SNL brings in an Oscar winner to host.
Okay, sure. Football is over until the Fall. We’re all going to be going through pigskin withdrawal together. If you’re up panicking over how you’ll spend your weekends in the next few months, how about easing the pain with some late night comedy. There’s plenty scheduled for this week with great names appearing in late night.
Monday kicks off (oops, shouldn’t have said “kick-off”), with the premiere name in stand up comedy right now, Bill Burr. The world’s youngest curmudgeon will be on Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC on Monday evening. You can catch Bill reprising his role of Mayfeld the Mercenary on the Disney+ “Star Wars” series, “The Mandalorian.” Bill just recently had to explain why his outer space character living in a galaxy far, far away, has a Boston accent. Watch tonight Late Night on Monday, he may offer his explanation again.
We always recommend checking out the full listings below each week. If you’re checking out Monday’s comedy offerings in late night, you’ll notice that Jay Pharoah is on two different late night shows on Monday evening. The former SNL impression specialist will be on Conan on TBS at 11pm et and then on A Little Late with Lilly Singh at 1:30am et on NBC. He’s pulling this off because his Conan appearance is a rerun. Team Coco is making sure they take all their TBS vacation weeks before Conan O’Brien makes the leap to HBO Max in late 2021.
Tuesday has two great names in comedy doing virtual interviews in late night. Anthony Atamanuik, who does the very best impression of former President Trump in all of comedy, will be on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday night. And Wanda Sykes, who does the worst impression of Donald Trump (that’s just a guess), will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday evening. Wanda will be appearing in the new Netflix family sitcom, “The Upshaws“, coming soon to the streaming service.
Thursday night is the night for SNL cast members to be guests in late night. Current SNL player Alex Moffat will be on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday and then, if you leave your television on NBC, you can catch former Saturday Night Live star Will Forte on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Also on Thursday evening, Kevin James will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The former “King of Queens” comedian has a new Netflix series debuting on Monday, February 15th on the streamer. His new sitcom is called “The Crew“. On the show, Kevin James plays Kevin Gibson who is a NASCAR crew chief. The sitcom focuses on his family at home as well as on the race track.
This weekend, we’re getting another new episode of Saturday Night Live. That’s 3 new episodes in a row now. You’re spoiling us SNL. The fantastic Regina King, who does comedy as well as drama, will be hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time. She’ll also be the third host in a row who’s a newbie on SNL. Regina’s musical guest will be Nathaniel Rateliff who will be bringing his bluesy folk sound to Saturday Night Live for the first time as well.
Remember, if you’re laughing at late night comedy, no one will hear your crying over the end of football season.
