Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of December 2, 2019

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

Happy Holidays! Even though Thanksgiving is done and the leftovers have all been eaten, it will be interesting to see if the holiday is still a topic of conversation on the Tonight Show this week.

Jimmy Fallon got universally bashed on Twitter for his performance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade which was broadcast on Fallon’s network, NBC, on Thanksgiving morning. Fallon, along with Questlove and the Roots, did a really poor job lip syncing the song “Surfin’ Bird” on a parade float. One major complaint is that the vocals started about 5 to 6 seconds before Fallon’s mouth started moving. Than Jimmy began thrashing around wildly on the float, probably to keep anyone from seeing his mouth.

Fallon was immediately called out for it and the reviews weren’t kind. Here’s an example.

The Tonight Show host did such a bad job that he was accused by more than one viewer of being drunk while performing in the biggest parade of the year.

We’ll all have to watch the Tonight Show on Monday night at 11:30pm et on NBC to see what Jimmy Fallon has to say, if anything, about this holiday debacle. He may not have a choice in discussing it or not. One of Monday’s guests on the Tonight Show is the hilarious John Mulaney, who has no problem dealing with anything uncomfortable. After all, he’s toured with Pete Davidson.

Monday is also a historic evening in late night. On Lights Out with David Spade on Comedy Central, Spade’s panel will be made up of all former Saturday Night Live – Weekend Update anchormen! Norm Macdonald, Kevin Nealon and Dennis Miller, who have all skewered news-makers and lampooned headlines on the highest level at SNL, will all be together for the first time in late night. Any future funny anchorpeople hopefuls will want to see this on Monday night and take notes from this expert panel.

Mark Tuesday down as a Conan night on your calendar. Team Coco is hosting a stand up comedy performance from the UK’s Garrett Millerick. He’s had a huge couple of years in comedy. Garrett performed his live show “Sunflower” to packed houses at both the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and then at London’s Soho Theatre. He was also named Time Out London’s Number.1 Comedy Pick for February 2019, and received a nomination for “Breakthrough Act” at the 2019 Chortle Awards.

Garrett Millerick recorded “Sunflower” for a comedy album being released later this month. And he’s planning a return to the Soho Theatre with his brand new show “Garrett Millerick: Smile” in January, 2020.

There’s more stand up comedy in late night on Thursday when Joe Pera visits the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Joe Pera in a NYC comedian by way of Buffalo. You know him from his Adult Swim show “Joe Pera Talks with You“. On the series, Joe plays a fictionalized version of himself as a middle school choir teacher who talks directly to his audience about tantalizing topics like breakfast and sleeping. Season 2 of “Joe Pera Talks with You” premieres Friday, December 6th at midnight on Adult Swim.

This weekend, Saturday Night Live is back after taking the Thanksgiving holiday week off. SNL will be live with host Jennifer Lopez who is hosting Saturday Night Live for her third time. J-Lo’s musical guest this Saturday will be DaBaby.

Enjoy this week in late night and remember, it’s never too late to watch some TV.
