Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, “That Damn Michael Che” visits the Tonight Show, Brian Regan is “On The Rocks” and the Impractical Jokers celebrate a new season.

Normally, we don’t like to look at the late night bookings each week as winners and losers. As long as there’s something or someone to laugh with each night, then we’re all winners. BUT, if we were keeping score this week, then Jimmy Fallon is kicking the collective asses of all his late night competitors when it comes to booking great comedy guests.

Our highlights start on Tuesday when Jimmy Fallon welcomes Michael Che to the Tonight Show. Next week marks the beginning of a new sketch comedy series from the Saturday Night Live co-head writer and anchorman of Weekend Update.

That Damn Michael Che” is a sketch comedy show that deals in heavy real life topics like racial profiling and unemployment, but from Che’s unique comedy perspective. It’s like SNL, but with uncensored comedy.

The new HBO Max comedy series does resemble Saturday Night Live in one way. The guest stars including Cecily Strong, Heidi Gardner, Colin Quinn, Ellen Cleghorne and Weekend Update‘s co-anchor Colin Jost, all current or former SNL cast members. “That Damn Michael Che” premieres Thursday, May 6th on HBO Max.

Keep your TV on NBC Tuesday night to catch Late Night with Seth Meyers. Tuesday’s guest on Late Night is Michelle Buteau. She is the host on a brand new season of the innovative reality competition show, “The Circle.” Season 2 of “The Circle” is now streaming on Netflix. It’s a reality series that is played on social media where not everyone is who they say they are. And remember, the information you’re getting on “The Circle” is every bit as trustworthy and reliable as things are on real social media. If you still need more Michelle Buteau, you can see her one hour Netflix special, “Welcome to Buteaupia” on the streaming service now.

Wednesday night, Jimmy Fallon is back in the late night winner’s circle for booking the best touring comedian working today, Brian Regan. The Tonight Show welcomes Brian on Wednesday to talk about his new Netflix comedy special, “Brian Regan: On The Rocks” which is getting rave reviews. You can watch for Brian Regan and (spoiler) his gray hair on the Tonight Show on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, Jimmy Kimmel has a guest making his late night television debut. It’s Mike Lindell, the My Pillow Guy. Sure, Mike’s been on shows like “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and “Fox and Friends,” but this will be his first time bringing his alt-right beliefs and conspiracy theories to late night. He’ll be on Jimmy Kimmel Live and if we’re lucky, he’ll try to instigate another insurrection.

Just so no one is confused, this is the real My Pillow Guy. Kimmel has had “Mike Lindell” on JKL before, but that was an impersonation by master impressionist and top shelf comedian James Adomian who you know from his appearances as Senator Bernie Sanders. Hopefully, both My Pillow Guys will meet Wednesday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Thursday night, Jimmy Fallon welcomes not one funny guest, but four of them when he has the Impractical Jokers on the Tonight Show. The Tenderloins, Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Sal Vulcano will all be on the Tonight Show celebrating the good news that their long running truTV prank show, “Impractical Jokers” will return for a 10th season. You can catch all of the new Season 9 episodes now on truTV.

Later on Thursday night, hang out for Late Night with Seth Meyers for his guest Leslie Jordan. The star who stole every episode of “Will & Grace” that he appeared on and who dominated social media with his Instagram stories during the pandemic, will be on Late Night to talk about his new book.

Leslie Jordan’s new memoir “How Y’all Doing?: Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived” is filled with bizarre stories from the life and career of the Emmy Award winner. Le-Jo’s new book is available this Tuesday, April 27th.

One final note on this week in late night. Conan O’Brien is on vacation this week. But his entire week of Best Of Conan shows is filled with very funny guests. This week, Team Coco gives us repeats featuring Anthony Anderson (Monday), Kenan Thompson (Tuesday), Louie Anderson (Wednesday), and Joel McHale (Thursday), at 11pm et on TBS.

Enjoy your week. Keep your head up, your hands clean and your TVs on all night.
