Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?
This week, Rainn Wilson goes paranormal on the Late Late Show, Phoebe Robinson gives her most on the Tonight Show and Russell Brand gets meta on Conan.
On Monday, we suggest you stay up late for the Late Late Show with James Corden and his guest Rainn Wilson. Fans of Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute on “The Office“, now have a brand new Rainn Wilson character to fall in love with. That character is Terry Carnation the “Pope of the Paranormal.”
This latest character creation of Rainn Wilson can be heard on the new podcast from AudioBoom, “Dark Air with Terry Carnation.” In the tradition of Art Bell’s middle-of-the-night cult radio show, “Coast to Coast AM,” which explored all sorts of paranormal topics and conspiracy theories, Rainn Wilson’s new podcast uses the same subject matter with a mix of comedy added.
On “Dark Air with Terry Carnation“, Rainn Wilson takes advantage of our current conspiracy hungry population and explores the unexplainable and takes calls from various bizarre callers. Rainn will be telling James Corden all about his new podcast venture available on AudioBoom on the Late Late Show on Monday night to kick off the week.
Tuesday night, the show to watch is the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon for his guest, the hilarious Phoebe Robinson. The headlining comic has a new Comedy Central show she’s promoting called, “Doing the Most With Phoebe Robinson.” The series premiered on CC this past Friday.
On “Doing the Most“, Phoebe Robinson shows off her adventurous side. It’s unscripted and features Phoebe trying things she’s never done before with some of her celebrity friends including Kevin Bacon, Whitney Cummings, Tan France and Hasan Minhaj. One adventure that Phoebe Robinson has already conquered is appearing on the Tonight Show. Tuesday will be her 5th appearance on the Jimmy Fallon variety hour.
Also on Tuesday, watch for Denis Leary on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Denis will be talking about his Fox sitcom, “The Moodys.” It’s the second season for the series where Denis plays the patriarch of the Moody family who are now all living together under one roof after the Moodys’ three adult children move back home. Find out more when Denis Leary appears on Late Night on Tuesday.
Seth Meyers keeps the comedy coming on Wednesday with his guest Mary Lynn Rajskub. She’ll be on Late Night on Wednesday night, promoting her very unique comedy special, “Mary Lynn Rajskub: Live from the Pandemic.” The special which was not only filmed without an audience during the pandemic, but it was also done from Mary Lynn’s home and shot in her garage. Talk about do it yourself. “Mary Lynn Rajskub: Live from the Pandemic” is available now and is streaming for purchase on Vimeo.
Also on Wednesday night, Conan O’Brien welcomes Howie Mandel to Conan on TBS. Howie has plenty going on and he’s always busy. He’s already begun filming the pre-taped portion of “America’s Got Talent.” The competition variety show on NBC will be celebrating another season. The upcoming “AGT: Season 16” which features Howie Mandel as a judge will premiere this summer on NBC.
Thursday night, there’s no need to change the channel because Conan has another funny guest booked. Team Coco welcomes Russell Brand to show on Thursday on TBS. Brand, who has been on a higher knowledge quest for the past few years, has a new project he’s done in collaboration with Audible.com. Russell Brand has recorded an Audible Original event called “Revelation: Connecting with the Sacred in Everyday Life.” According to the official description, Russell Brand takes a “witty dive into the meaning of life, death, and the sacred space in between.” It’s available now on Audible.com.
Finally on Friday night, you get the second chance to catch the amazing comedy icon Eddie Murphy on a repeat of the Late Late Show with James Corden. Murph was on the Late Late Show to promote the long-awaited sequel to his 1988 comedy classic, “Coming to America.” The sequel titled “Coming 2 America” is available now on Amazon Prime, just in case you’re one of the few people who hasn’t seen it yet.
