It’s been 30 years since Steve Martin and Martin Short first met, working on the classic comedy film, “The Three Amigos”. The two icons met yet again Thursday night on the Tonight Show. Before the interview, host Jimmy Fallon showed a clip of what happens when you literally run into Steve Martin and Martin Short backstage. The clip will definitely have them rolling. Not laughing, but rolling none the less.

The interview, which you can watch below, is certainly worth the time mainly because there’s a not a straight answer given by either Steve or Marty in the entire conversation. It’s a perfect blend of sentimentality and comedy one-upmanship. Martin Short talks about what he noticed first about Steve Martin while managing to turn it into a Trump joke. Steve, on the other hand, tells how he first ran into Martin on the set of the “Amigos” after hearing a screen legend’s voice coming up behind him. There’s also some unknown facts for comedy trivia fans including, do you know which Steve Martin movie that Martin Short claims he’s seen 500 times? And while on tour together, where is the place that Steve Martin likes to visit in each town they stop in?

Also included below is the clip of the game segment Jimmy, Steve and Marty played when apparently Jimmy thought the conversation and comedy were going too well. It’s a round of Tonight Show True Confessions, some of which may not be true. Find out which of the three may or may not have scored with a 1960s sex symbol, who may or may not have gotten into a NYC street argument with Regis Philibin and who faked being an exchange student to try to pick up girls. It’s all revealed in what Jimmy Fallon had to describe as a “fun game”.

There’s a lot coming up for these two comedy legends. Martin Short will be performing in “Hairspray Live!” on December 7 at 8pm on NBC. Steve Martin co-stars in the new film, “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” as the manipulative and opportunistic, yet fictional owner of the Dallas Cowboys, which opens nationwide on November 11th. Then together, Martin Short and Steve Martin start a new 50 city tour with their show, “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life”. The new wave of the tour starts February 10, 2017 at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, Florida.
