Stephen Colbert Does No Handed Push Ups for the Troops

Stephen Colbert supports three things-- the troops, veterans, and lumber. To show his support, he put out a video today doing 20 pushups for the 101st Airborn, several of them using no hands. He says John Oliver challenged him to complete the task,and he now challenges fellow late night hosts James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel and either Karl Lagerfeld or the pope.

John Oliver is going to finally take us all the way to the end of the micro-video trend. Forget 20 minute videos, those went out years ago. Forget the instagram 15 second video, or the vine six second video. John Oliver has invented the one second video in celebration of the leap second.

John Oliver And Jack Warner Are Officially In A Feud

After disgraced FIFA executive Jack Warner threatened to leak incriminating documents in a paid special, John Oliver paid for his own message on Trinidad's TV6 last week to plead for their release. Warner responded in another video, claiming TV6 disgraced their own people and dismissing Oliver as a "comedian fool," all while a dramatic score drowned him out.

Amy Schumer Wins Awards on Two Coasts Last Night, and a Stage Kiss From Tina Fey

Last night on the East Coast, while the Peabody Awards were being handed out at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan, the Broadcast TV Journalists Association gave out the Critics Choice Television awards in Beverly Hills. In the fifth annual event, the CCTA show was broadcast live on A&E last night from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Amy Schumer took home awards in both ceremonies.

Monty Python Returns To The Stage For Film Festival

Friday continued Tribeca Film Festival’s 40th Anniversary salute to the British (+1 American) comedy sketch group Monty Python. The five surviving Pythons made their appearance at the New York Beacon Theater, filled with fans who had just watched their beloved (and arguably most popular) film “Monty Python and the Search of the Holy Grail.” The crowd were full of people who clearly loved the film, and knew more than a few lines by heart...plus me.

Schumer, Hart, Pratt, Oliver Make Time’s 100 Most Influential

Time Magazine has put out its annual "100 Most Influential" issue and four of those spots were reserved for performers who influence comedy in the world. The list that includes world and industrial leaders, performers, icons and pioneers also includes Amy Schumer, Kevin Hart, Chris Pratt and John Oliver who were selected and honored with short essays in the magazine.
