“Silicon Valley” and “Veep” Renewed For New HBO Seasons

This past weekend HBO comedies “Silicon Valley” and “Veep” returned with season premieres. These new seasons won’t be their last. Both shows have already been renewed by HBO for one more year of episodes.

“Silicon Valley” came back with a bidding war for Pied Piper and a goodbye to billionaire tech genius and philanthropist Peter Gregory who may or may not have been indirectly killed by a hippo. Peter Gregory was played by Christopher Evan Welch who passed away in late 2013. The series starring Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Josh Brener, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani and Matt Ross just started its sophomore season and will be back for a third.

“Veep” now has former VP Selina Meyer in the White House as the Commander-in-Chief in its 4th season premiere episode. Julia Louis-Dreyfus who plays the country’s first female President is coming back for a 5th season. President Meyer is already in a tough battle just to keep her party’s nomination, so with another season, it looks like it’s going to be a long campaign.

HBO President of Programming Michael Lombardo said that the network is looking at locking up Sunday nights with viewers. “Veep and Silicon Valley are terrific series, and I’m immensely proud that they will return to HBO next year.Along with Game of Thrones and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, both of which have already been renewed for 2016, they give HBO a stellar Sunday night like no other.”
