Finally! Super Troopers Is Getting A Sequel

Broken Lizard fans are finally getting what they’ve wanted. The Super Troopers are going to be back on patrol. The 2001 movie “Super Troopers” starring and written by the members of Broken Lizard, Steve Lemme, Jay Chandrasekhar (also the director), Kevin Heffernan, Erik Stolhanske, and Paul Soter as Vermont state troopers, patrolling near the Canadian border, is getting a sequel after 14 years.
Broken Lizard member Steve Lemme told Us Weekly, why it took so long to start working on a follow-up. “You know, it was a combination of having to settle some of the legal disputes about making a sequel, while also negotiating terms for it”. He said the sequel will pick up where the first one left off, just “a few years later”. He also thinks that the new script is able to top the original.
But more importantly, the Super Trooper mustaches will be back in full force. He said – “Everybody who had a mustache in the first one will grow it back. Now the guys who didn’t grow mustaches for the first one want to have a mustache. We’re making them earn it, not sure how we’ll haze them, but they better be prepared.”
Lemme said that most of the budget is in place, but Broken Lizard may turn to crowd sourcing to raise what’s still needed. “The fans have been asking for it for a while, but we were finally able to package everything together. Fox is going to distribute the film, but we needed to raise the money for it, with a minimum budget of $27 million, which we’ve just about raised. There may be a Kickstarter launched to raise the last little bit.”
“Super Troopers 2” goes into pre-production next month and filming is scheduled to begin in 2015.
