Steve Martin Negotiating To Star in Magic Camp

Steve Martin is in final negotiations with Disney to star in a new family comedy called “Magic Camp”.
In the film which still doesn’t have a director according to the Hollywood Reporter, Martin would play a repressed banker who returns to the Summer magic camp that he went to as a shy kid. Now he’s back at camp as a magic counselor who’s also looking to win the Golden Wand championship.
This would bring Steve Martin full circle with Disney and magic. He worked at Disneyland as a kid in the 50s working at the Fantasyland magic shop. That’s where he learned his early magic tricks, juggling skills and how to make balloon animals. He’s also worked with Disney in his film career doing the “Father of the Bride” movies for the studio as well as 2005’s “Shop Girl” and “Bringing Down The House” in 2003.
Martin hasn’t been seen in a new film since 2011 in “The Big Year” with Jack Black and Owen Wilson. He’s currently been out on his banjo music tours with the Steep Canyon Rangers and Edie Brickell.
