SNL Adds Shane Gillis, Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman as Featured Players for New Season

WHAT!? Shane Gillis is the newest cast member of Saturday Night Live? The New York stand up scene hasn’t been this excited since Pete Davidson was added to the SNL cast. Shane Gillis who hails from Philadelphia has been shooting off like a firecracker ever since making his move to New York City. Fresh off the (train? highway? bus?) from Philadelphia, Gillis started becoming a serious player on the stand up scene in New York City as soon as he arrived. Gillis won Helium’s Philly’s Funniest competition a few years back but 2019 has been his year. Before being hired at comedy’s most iconic and longest running show, Gillis was named one of Comedy Central’s comedians to watch, he was selected by Just for Laughs as a New Face of Comedy, and then before all of that, Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder picked Gillis as the Comedian Most Likely to Break Out in 2019 for our annual preview of comedy in the new year.

Bowen Yang is also joining the cast and what a tremendous choice for SNL. Yang is one half of the runaway hit podcast Las Culturistas which has become a genuine cultural phenomenon. Yang is now the first full time Asian castmember, and he seems like a brilliant choice to help round out the cast.

And from the world of sketch comes Chloe Fineman a Groundlings vet and a former New Face from Just for Laughs in 2018. Chloe has some skills in the impressions area and has acting credits that include “Search Party” and “Jane the Virgin.”

Looking forward to seeing how these 3 rookies are used when Saturday Night Live returns in two weeks.
