Sarah Silverman Called For a Military Coup on Twitter
During the election, comedian Sarah Silverman was pretty vocal about her political leanings, coming out in support of Senator Bernie Sanders and, later on, Hillary Clinton. Now that the election is over, we figured that Silverman’s political commentary would continue, just not as . . . alarmist as her most recent postings.
On Wednesday night, a speaking event by Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos was cancelled at UC Berkeley after the campus erupted in violent protests. Around that same time, Silverman took to Twitter and sent out this tweet, in response to a now-private post by a friend that rounded up various complaints about Donald Trump:
WAKE UP & JOIN THE RESISTANCE. ONCE THE MILITARY IS W US FASCISTS GET OVERTHROWN. MAD KING & HIS HANDLERS GO BYE BYE❤❤❤❤ https://t.co/Y2WZbL012A

“WAKE UP & JOIN THE RESISTANCE. ONCE THE MILITARY IS W US FASCISTS GET OVERTHROWN. MAD KING & HIS HANDLERS GO BYE BYE,” read the post. There’s not a whole lot of room for interpretation with this one; it appears Silverman really is just calling for a coup.
In case the seriousness of her tweet wasn’t clear enough, she followed up that post with this one two hours later:
We're all gonna die sounds so dire but we are though (all gonna die)

“We’re all gonna die,” says Silverman. “Scary if true” says comedian George Wallace.
Scary if true

Scary indeed, George.
If Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies @SarahKSilverman and I are gonna move to D.C. and 'Weekend at Bernies' that shit until 2020
