Comedian Rhea Butcher Is About To Have A Fantastic August

Comedian Rhea Butcher has announced that her debut album, Butcher, will be released on August 19th via the KILL ROCK STARS label. Butcher may be unfamiliar to some on the right side of the country, but West Coasters already know she packs a serious comedy punch. Butcher, an L.A.-by-way-of-Ohio comic, has been keeping busy this year; besides her new album, she has also been the co-host (along with her wife, rising comedy superstar Cameron Esposito) of She Said, a web series on Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls network, and has been working on a new show for Seeso called Take My Wife which also premieres in August. When Fusion TV wanted to add a live correspondent to the outstanding and criminally underrated series No, You Shut Up, they went to Butcher. The series was cancelled, but there will be so many more opportunities for Rhea to show off her comedy.

She made her late-night television debut just last week when she appeared on Conan. She laid down a funny and well-delivered set that gave the audience a good idea of who she is, touching on topics like her family’s blue-collar history, growing up as an only child, and the irony of being a “butch” lesbian-vegetarian with the last name Butcher. Leading up to the new album, The A.V. Club  has premiered an exclusive track from Butcher on their site, titled Bicycle and Baseball. In the clip, Butcher muses on the supposed inclusiveness of baseball and the all-too-familiar Netflix wormhole that so many of us have gone down when stuck in bed. Check that clip out here:
