With 2015 getting here soon, the late night comedy schedule is falling into place. “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” has gotten a premiere date from Comedy Central. The show replacing the Colbert Report will debut Monday, January 19th at 11:30 pm et. It will premiere right after the Daily Show with Jon Stewart who will be the executive producer of the “Nightly Show”. Comedy Central says the Nightly Show will feature a panel of unique voices and news stories told from the perspective of the underdog.

The show stars host Larry Wilmore, the former Senior Black Correspondent from the Daily Show. Wilmore also created “The Bernie Mac Show,”, co-created the animated show “The PJs” with Eddie Murphy and has written for “In Living Color,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and “The Jamie Foxx Show.” Recently he was the executive producer and showrunner for the new ABC comedy, “Black-ish”.

Wilmore’s new series was originally titled “The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore”. Comedy Central decided to change the name. Not because it was too polarizing, but because FOX was going ahead with plans to make a series out of the movie “Minority Report” starring Tom Cruise about three psychics who lay around all day in a wading pool yelling “murder”. Comedy Central did not want Larry being confused with Tom Cruise or a sedentary psychic.
