NBC Entertainment President of Alternative and Late Night Programming Paul Telegdy announced that “America’s most compelling comedy competition” will get a 9th season on the network. Yes, you can plan ahead because Last Comic Standing is coming back next summer.  Telegdy made the LCS announcement while also revealing that NBC is also renewing the Summer series “America’s Got Talent” and “American Ninja Warrior”.

NBC reported that “Last Comic” has finished #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in its Thursday 10-11 pm et time slot in 18-49 with six of its first eight telecasts this Summer, only losing to ABC during the NBA Finals coverage.

Although Last Comic Standing has been renewed, Telegdy didn’t mention if this season’s judges Roseanne Barr, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Russell Peters along with new host JB Smoove would also be returning next Summer.

LCS has 5 episodes left this season with the last 3 all being part of the finale where the final 3 comedians battle it out for the title of Last Comic Standing.
