Letterman Writer Bill Scheft To Tell His Story To Marc Maron

With everyone hating on Letterman writer Bill Scheft for getting a cue card guy fired, he has to change the tide. Last week, the New York Post reported that an altercation that turned physical between Scheft and veteran Late Show cue card man Tony Mendez, led to Mendez being escorted from the Ed Sullivan Theater and then being let go from the show. At one point, it was said that Scheft was missing time from work, claiming he was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The online chatter about this has gotten to him.
On his blog, Scheft wrote, “Being in the news cycle for 36 hours and reading not just every account, but every single comment. If it ever happens to you, don’t do that. Just don’t. You’ll thank me.” He added in a separate post, “Don’t hate me.”
Since Barbra Walters and Oprah retired that means that Marc Maron is the place to go for some PR reconstruction. You will hate Scheft at the start of the podcast but by the end, the healing will begin. Or you will still think he’s an asshole.
