Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

To answer the above question, no one. All the late night talk shows are taking the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. Everyone really needed to recharge their batteries this week to be at full comedy strength when the Trump Administration takes office on January 20th. This is certainly the most “not” wonderful time of the year for late night comedy. All the network guys are in repeats and meanwhile over on basic cable, Conan, The Daily Show and @midnight are all pre-empted this week. There’s not even a Saturday Night Live rerun this week. In SNL’s time slot is NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly. If you want to catch up on any late night talk that you might have missed, this week both Seth Meyers (Monday) and Stephen Colbert (Thursday) are breaking out their interviews with VP Joe Biden for their best of’s. On Tuesday night, you can catch Tom Papa’s hysterical set on the Late Show if you missed it the first time. Wednesday is Garth Brooks (formerly Chris Gaines) doing a rare performance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live repeat. And on Friday, Seth Meyers is re-airing his interview with Colin Quinn where they talk about his Netflix special, “Colin Quinn: The New York Story”.

On Saturday, you will get some new late night comedy when Seth Meyers hosts his first Late Night With Seth Meyers New Year’s Eve Special. Leslie Jones will be appearing with Seth on the New Year’s edition of Late Night. Have a happy and safe New Year!
