All our late night hosts are loaded up for another week of new programming, except for Conan O’Brien who is still on vacation. He has so much time off, he should just change the name of his show from “Conan” to “Congress”. Looks like there’s a reason both names start with the word “con”.
Here’s your late night highlights for this week.
Tuesday, Comedy Central is providing the late night laughs with a brand-new episode of The Jim Jefferies Show at 10:30pm and then
former Daily Show correspondent Rob Corddry returns to the Comedy Central news desk at 11pm, but this time for an interview with Trevor Noah.
Wednesday, Ray Romano returns to the Late Late Show with James Corden to talk about the new season of his Epix series, “Get Shorty” based on the Elmore Leonard novel. The amazing thing about Ray Romano is that if you totally subtracted “Everybody Loves Raymond” from his resume, he still has one of the most impressive careers in comedy. Between his stand up, films (“The Big Sick“, and the “Ice Age” franchise) and his other TV projects (“Parenthood“, “Men of a Certain Age“), plus his books, Ray Romano has had about a dozen different careers and James Corden will be trying to talk about all of them on Wednesday night.
This Thursday is a great night for late night talk show comedy. The legendary Bob Newhart will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about his new Audible original, “Hi Bob!“. The audio streaming service has created an amazing entertainment package with “Hi Bob!“. It features the iconic Bob Newhart in conversation with some of the biggest movers and shakers in comedy today and then putting it all together with each track centering on a different theme. For more details and to hear the trailer for “Hi Bob!” from Audible, read our article “Newhart is Back! And He’s Talking to Comics” on the IBang.
Also on Thursday night, you can see Emmy Award nominee Issa Rae on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Issa is nominated for Best Lead Actress for her HBO series, “Insecure.” Plus, Colbert also has comedian Ronnie Chieng talking about his new film, “Crazy Rich Asians.” Then later Thursday night, James Corden hosts Tig Notaro on the Late Late Show and Rainn Wilson is on Late Night with Seth Meyers talking about his new movie “The Meg“, Summer 2018’s answer to “Jaws.”
Friday, you can start your weekend with some political comedy to get ready for a weekend of early morning, can’t-sleep tweets from President Trump. D.L. Hughley will be a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday night on HBO. D.L. has a new book out titled, “How Not to Get Shot: And Other Advice From White People” which is available now online and in book stores. The conversation is always informative, heated and hilarious when D.L. Hughley is on Real Time and Friday evening should be no different. It’s one way to hear about all the problems in this country and still go to bed with a smile on your face.
