As we head into a week that not only contains a “Friday the 13th,” but is also the last full week to get those pesky taxes done, you might need some laughs. Fortunately, there’s plenty to make you smile through all the bad luck and bad IRS news this week in late night.
Starting on Monday, it’s already a battle for who has the funniest guest in late night when Jimmy Fallon has John Mulaney, Colbert has Amy Schumer, Seth has Tiffany Haddish and James Corden hosts Tracy Morgan. Please set your DVRs accordingly. Also on Monday, Fallon is trying something new. No, it’s not a new party game. Jimmy F. will be doing his show with his first-ever co-host, Cardi B. Tune in Monday night to see how this little experiment works.
Tuesday, one of the funniest comedians working today, Sebastian Maniscalco, hits for the cycle by appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Sebastian has performed on Conan, Seth and the Tonight Show, plus it was the Late Show with Stephen Colbert where he finally made it to the couch in late night to do panel. Tuesday, Sebastian appears on the last late night show left to check off his list, Jimmy Kimmel Live. And, as with every other talk show, expect Sebastian Maniscalco to kill on JKL. Also on Tuesday, Veep‘s Matt Walsh appears on a new episode of The Chris Gethard Show on truTV along with music from on the most unique acts to ever come out of Great Britain, The Go! Team. If you have a favorite genre of music, there’s a really good chance that The Go! Team plays it.
Last year, Jc Currais was one of the New York Comedy Festival’s Eighth Annual Comics to Watch. Well, Thursday is your chance to watch him as he performs a new set on Conan on TBS. On Friday, I would say that one of “our” favorite comedians is performing on the Tonight Show, but that would keep the rest of the world from claiming Brian Regan as their favorite too. Brian returns to the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday night and you can still catch his premiere Netflix comedy special, “Brian Regan: Nunchucks and Flamethrowers” on the streaming giant.
Finally on Saturday, John Mulaney returns to Saturday Night Live where he worked for 6 seasons as a writer, starting in 2008. Mulaney won a Prime Time Emmy while working at SNL and among other memorable sketches from the variety series, he’s known for creating the Weekend Update character, Stefon the Club Kid with Bill Hader. He even appeared on SNL with Hader on WU a few weeks ago as Stefon’s lawyer and “conceptual piss artist,” Shy. You also know John Mulaney from his massive stand up career and as George St. Geegland who along with Nick Kroll’s “Gil Faizon” starred in the Broadway hit “Oh, Hello” the smash comedy show based on the sketch and characters from “Kroll Show“. Of course, you might not have recognized John Mulaney without his old man wig, makeup and mounds of “too much tuna”.
