Larry David Coming To Broadway

Larry David will be starring in a Broadway play that he has written himself.

The news first came from Roger Friedman at Showbiz411, who said he found out that the name of the play would “Shiva” about the Jewish period of mourning after a funeral. The New York Times is reporting that the show will be called “Fish in the Dark”.   The original plans didn’t include David starring in the play until he was convinced to by producer Scott Rubin, who is the only producer to ever win an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). His Broadway credits include being lead producer on “Book of Mormon”. There were rumors that Jerry Seinfeld might come on board as either an actor, producer or both in the production, but those rumors have been discredited.  Tony Award winning director Anna D. Shapiro will direct.

David told the New York Times, “I haven’t been in a play since the eighth grade, when I did ‘Charley’s Aunt.’ I seem to remember wearing a dress. That’s it. And I’m not even really an actor. But I’m still sleeping at night, and I hope that continues.”

The play will open on March 5.

Larry David of course, is an actor, comedian, writer, and television producer.  He was the co-creator of, and head writer for “Seinfeld”, and is the creator and star of the HBO hit series, “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
