Each year, Forbes releases a list of the top 100 celebrities who make waaayy more money than most of us will ever see in our lives. The top ranks are usually populated by mega popstars, and this year is no exception. Taylor “I’mma Let You Finish” Swift came in at #1 with an absolutely ridiculous $170 million, with the oh-so-dreamy boy band One Direction taking #2, netting $110 million. The comedy industry, however, is ever-growing, and this year, a few of comedy’s power hitters have joined (or reprised) spots on the list.
Last year, “The King of All Media” Howard Stern was #5 on the 2015 list, and he’s nearly kept that spot this year. Stern came in at #7 with $85 million, getting beat out by Kevin Hart at #6, whose extensive, worldwide What Now? tour (and other various shows, endorsements, etc) netted him $87.5 million. Those are impressive numbers, bringing them ahead of superstar athletes like Lionel Messi and LeBron James and beloved songstress Adele.
Ellen DeGeneres was the only other comedian to crack the top 50, ranking at #13 with $75 million in earnings from her internet clip show, Tosh.0 — oh wait, I meant from her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She tied Rihanna, who also brought in a cool $75 million, and beat out country star Garth Brooks and both AC/DC and The Rolling Stones.
