Keegan-Michael Key, Amy Schumer Cast in Steve Martin’s New Broadway Comedy ‘Meteor Shower’

Per The Hollywood Reporter, comedians Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer, Trainwreck) and Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele, Keanu) have been cast to star in Steve Martin’s upcoming original Broadway production, Meteor Shower. Also starring are Alan Tudyk (Firefly, A Knight’s Tale) and Laura Benanti (Supergirl, Gypsy).

The comedy will purportedly tell the story of married couple Corky (Schumer) and Norm (Tudyk), who invite another couple over to their Ojai, California home for dinner. They soon find out, however, that Laura (Benanti) and Gerald (Key) are looking to spice things up with a little more than just small talk and finger foods. Their night of marital intrigue is apparently suppose to correlate with the meteor shower that’s taking place on the hot summer night.

While this is Peele and Schumer’s first time on a Broadway stage, they’ll be supported by a couple of veterans. This is Martin’s second Broadway production, his first being 2014’s bluegrass musical Bright Star. Tudyk has appeared in various Broadway productions, from Spamalot to Prelude to a Kiss, and Benanti has a storied history on the big stage that includes roles in hit plays like Into the Woods, Gypsy and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.

Meteor Shower is set to debut on November 29th, although there will be previews available starting on November 1st.
