Kate McKinnon Chooses Between Kellyanne Conway & AG Jeff Sessions on Late Night

When you have hit characters on Saturday Night Live, the feeling must be to protect them like you would your own children. On Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday night, SNL‘s Kate McKinnon made a “Sophie’s Choice” when Seth asked Kate which of her politically motivated characters she enjoys doing more on the sketch show, Presidential adviser and former campaign head Kellyanne Conway (which Seth said was a natural for McKinnon) or Attorney General Jeff Sessions (a little less typical casting)?
Without much hesitation or trepidation, Kate McKinnon chose the man who just got disposed by the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, Jeff Sessions. It may have been because the Attorney General who so much in the news that same day, but Kate said that one of the reasons that she finds Sessions so much fun to do is that she’s always been able to do a quirky thing with her mouth and never had a character to use it with. She figured out that she could do it while giving her Jeff Sessions character a “Forrest Gump”, Southern little elf feel to him.
And while SNL is on summer hiatus, Kate McKinnon was dying to be on television doing the material she wrote while watching the real Jeff Sessions’ testimony before the Senate. If you want to see a little extra “Sesh” from Kate McKinnon watch the clip below from Seth Meyer’s YouTube channel and enjoy.
There’s plenty of other classic McKinnon to see in the interview below. You can see Kate physically act out an accident she had while filming her new comedy, “Rough Night“. The accident included Kate misjudging where she sat and launching herself into a painful bramble. She also tells the story about her and co-star Ryan Cooper being eaten alive by “tiny sand monsters” while filming a necrophilia kissing scene on the beach. Plus, you can meet the character that she pitches up to 10 times a season on Saturday Night Live and it continues to get rejected, Colleen the Scottish Troll.
Rough Night starring Kate McKinnon, Scarlett Johansson, Jillian Bell, Zoë Kravitz and Ilana Glazer opens nationwide this Friday, June 16th in theaters everywhere.
