Jon Stewart Defends Samantha Bee During Clusterfest

During a Q&A session with Peter Hartlaub of the San Francisco Chronicle at Comedy Central’s Clusterfest this weekend, Jon Stewart defended Samantha Bee’s “Feckless Cunt” comment. Stewart said Bee should not have apologized and said the GOP was just playing a game where they call themselves the real victims. The political right “doesn’t give a shit about the word cunt”, he said referring to team Trump. “He says that instead of ‘please,’ I’m guessing.” “It’s a game, it’s a strategy, and it’s working,” Stewart said.

“Please understand that a lot of what the right does, and it’s maybe their greatest genius, is they’ve created a code of conduct that they police, that they themselves don’t have to, in any way, abide,” he added.

Also asked whether he would consider a Presidential run himself, he answered, “why not me? I say crazy shit all the time.”

Stewart also announced another movie- a follow up to his 2014 feature film writer-direct debut. He didn’t give a lot of detail, but the new film will be his interpretation of what our political process is right now.

He later closed out the festival with stand up before embarking on his short tour with Dave Chappelle.
