Jo Koy is Back Home and Live From Seattle on Netflix

There’s seems to be a new measuring stick for judging the comedy elite in our country and that’s by releasing a one hour special on Netflix. The streaming powerhouse now has a strong foothold on comedy specials from the best and brightest in the business. On Tuesday, March 28th, Jo Koy joins that exclusive comedy club when Netflix launches his 3rd comedy special, Jo Koy: Live from Seattle.

Filmed live at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, this is a homecoming for the comedian who hails from Tacoma, Washington. So, that makes the release of Jo Koy’s first Netflix special all the more, well, special. Going home for this event makes all the sense in the world for Jo. So much of his stand up has been based on growing up in the Emerald City and about his family who still lives there. The new special, “Live From Seattle” features Jo sharing even more of his family’s personal moments. There are no boundaries and no family topics off limits.

Jo Koy: Live From Seattle has Jo talking about his son, Little Joe, who has been a major part of his act since the day he was born, and is now in the 7th grade. As you can tell from the new trailer for the special which you can watch below, things haven’t gotten any easier as far as parenting is concerned for Jo . His latest nemesis in child rearing? 7th grade math! Jo also shows that he continues to be a master of physical comedy by demonstrating the mixed emotions of women laughing. He also speculates on what his life would be like if his Filipino mother had never met his white serviceman father and she had stayed in the Philippines. Over the years, so much of his comedy has been dedicated to his mother who encouraged him to perform starting with school talent shows. It’s not often a parent is both such an incredible source of inspiration and comedic material. Throughout his new special, Jo jokes about both the problems she has caused and cured during his life. And how he’s trying his best to raise his son with some sense of independence. He also tackles subjects like road rage and some of the worst places he’s ever found himself stuck in while touring.

He continues to sell out clubs and theaters all across the country and fans know that a Jo Koy show uses up every bit of the stage and all the air in the room during his performances. He’s one of the most energetic comedians working today. Jo has never had a problem going over his time because he’s just having too much fun with his audiences who are the ones that leave exhausted after the show.

Jo Koy began building his legion of fans after appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 05 and receiving a rare standing ovation from the Tonight Show audience that night. He later became a regular panelist on Chelsea Lately, released two Comedy Central specials, Don’t Make Him Angry and Lights Out and has been a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Comics Unleashed, Gotham Comedy Live, and Last Call with Carson Daly. Plus, he hosts his own podcast, The Koy Pond, honestly, what else would it be called?

And now on Tuesday, March 28th, he’s coming home to Netflix (literally) with Jo Koy: Live From Seattle. You’ll laugh your ting-ting off.
