Jimmy Kimmel Cries Thanking David Letterman

Jimmy Kimmel may compete with David Letterman in the Late Night wars but has never hesitated in telling people what a Letterman fan he is. Jimmy has always talked about how much Letterman meant to him when Kimmel was a kid. He also has modeled his career on Dave.
Jimmy is telling his audience not to watch his show tonight but to turn on the Letterman farewell show instead. It’s hard to think of another example when a network TV show asked people to switch to a competitor. Jerry Seinfeld is cynical about the motive but it’s a classy move Kimmel is making.
Last night he explained all of this on his own show, and got real choked up.
