Jimmy Kimmel has announced that out of respect to David Letterman’s retirement, he won’t be airing a new episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday, May 20th so that he’s not competing against the Letterman’s Late Show finale. One of Letterman’s final guests, Jerry Seinfeld found the gesture very underwhelming.

He was asked if he was moved by Jimmy Kimmel’s announcement by Access Hollywood. Seinfeld said, “No. He loves Dave so much. We get it. We understand.” The snarkiness didn’t end there. Jerry Seinfeld suggested what Kimmel should do if he truly wants to honor his hero, David Letterman. He said, “Why not put up a test pattern if you really want to respect the guy? I think TV Land put up a test pattern on the night of my [‘Seinfeld’] finale out of respect. That was a very nice gesture. Seinfeld added, “That’s what I would do. That’s a real tip of the cap!”

Jimmy Kimmel hasn’t responded on if he will take his David Letterman farewell tribute any further.
