Jim Jefferies Show Podcast Leads Off New Comedy Central Podcast Network

Podcasting is the future, but it’s also the present, and has been for some time. That’s why it’s nice to see that the figurehead of “mainstream” comedy is finally entering the fray and getting on the podcast bandwagon. Today, Comedy Central announced that they are launching a global podcast network that will give some of their biggest properties a presence in the podcast world.

As part of a partnership with Midroll Media — a podcast advertising juggernaut that works with shows like WTF with Marc Maron, Legion of Skanks and Comedy Bang! Bang! — Comedy Central hopes to turn its fledgling project into a full-blown comedy podcast Mecca.

“Podcasting is the next step in the evolution of Comedy Central content, an extremely versatile, and exciting medium that furthers our 360 strategy to allow our talent to express their vision and connect directly with fans across multiple platforms,” said SVP of Comedy Central Consumer Products, Experiential and Audio Steve Raizes. “We’re huge fans of podcasting and truly excited to create content based on our signature properties as well as entirely new concepts.”

So, which CC properties will be getting the podcast treatment? Check out the list below:

The Jim Jeffries Show: This one is a weekly post-show discussion with Jefferies and guests/writers from the show that will include jokes from the cutting room floor, deeper dives into show topics and general bullshittery. The show premieres today, Wednesday, September 20th.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: Ears Edition: This daily podcast will feature extended interviews with guests from the TV broadcast, as well as highlights from various segments from the prior night’s show. Premiere date TBD.

The Daily Show Original Mini-Series (Title TBD): A limited mini-series that will feature the creative team behind The Daily Show diving in-depth into one topic per show. Premiere date TBD.

History of the Roast: A mini-series that will focus on one particular CC Roast each episode, including behind-the-scenes looks at the events and interviews with writers, producers and the roasters themselves. Premiere date TBD.

Up Next: Based on the show of the same name, this show will shine a light on up-and-coming stand-up acts, featuring live recordings from various Los Angeles and New York showcases. Premiere date TBD.

The network plans to roll out various other original shows, as well as shows that will act as extensions of previously-established series, so keep on eye on The IBang for more news on those projects as it rolls out.
