Jim Breuer Releases Single From New Heavy Metal Album

Rolling Stone is reporting  that veteran comic and rock and roll fanatic Jim Breuer has released a track from his debut heavy metal album, Songs From the Garage. The track, called “Be a Dick 2Nite,” is a mix of Breuer’s legendary storytelling abilities with some exemplary metal riffs. The song details one of Breuer’s epic nights out, with one of his friends deciding to “be a dick tonight” in any way he can — by using roman candles as weapons, getting kicked out of a bar, and puking in his buddy’s car.

Having heard the manner in which this song was made — spoken word with backing music, with Breuer breaking into the occasional wailing high-note — the rest of the tracks are sure to deliver on the funny and the rock. Two of the songs, “My Rock n Roll Dream” and “Mr. Rock n Roll,” even feature the frontman from AC/DC a favorite of Breuer’s, Brian Johnson.

One thing is for sure: Breuer himself is satisfied with the final product. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the comic had this to say: “I wrote this album as if I was in the audience. I like old-school, riff-driven, hard rock music with big hooks! I feel this album is exactly that!”

The album, coming in at 11 tracks, was produced by the members of Breuer’s band, the Loud and Rowdy (previously the Jim Breuer Band:) guitarist Rob Caggiano, bassist Joe Vigliotti, and drummer Mike Tichy. Breuer told Rolling Stone that he plans to shoot music videos for each track on the album and will launch a tour to take the material on the road.

Breur is an unmistakeable personality: one part sweetheart, one part genuine crazy person, one part rock and roll historian. He is perhaps best known for his role as Brian in the hit stoner comedy Half Baked, or for his turn as “Goat Boy” on Saturday Night Live. He currently hosts Fridays with Jim Breuer every Friday afternoon from 4-6 pm on SiriusXM Raw Dog Comedy.

Songs From the Garage will be released May 27th by Metal Blade Records. Keep an eye out for tour date announcements to follow.
