Jeff Ross to Roast Boston Cops in New Special

Jeff Ross will roast anybody, and that includes cops. Comedy Central has announced that the legendary roastmaster will debut a one-hour special on September 10th that aims to tear down the wall between police officers and their detractors. The special, called Jeff Ross Roasts Cops, is a hybrid project — part investigative journalism, part documentary and part stand-up comedy. The project will follow Ross as he gets to know the members of the Boston Police Department by way of ride-alongs, interviews with top brass and roasts of the officers themselves at police benefit events.
On the flip side, Ross will also do some man-on-the-street interviews with people on the streets of Boston, as well as with anti-police brutality protesters in New York. Ross’ goal is to show the human sides of both police officers and the citizens they protect in order to show that people’s differences aren’t as vast as they think.
“Everybody in America is talking about the cops, but almost no one is talking to them,” said Ross. “So I wondered, ‘What’s their job really like right now?’ and ‘If I make fun of them, will they laugh, or will they want to kill me?’”
The special comes right on the heels of Ross’ hit roast competition Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle, which went down during the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal that ended just a few weeks ago.
The special will air on September 10th at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.
