Jeff Ross Goes on Colbert To Defend Ann Coulter’s Roast Beating

“I pretty much like to think that anything goes at a roast. Once you volunteer to be there, that’s the key. If you volunteer to be roasted, anything goes.” – Roastmaster General Jeff Ross
That’s one of the rules of roasting that Jeff Ross explained to Stephen Colbert on the Late Show, Friday night. It was part of his explanation on why Conservative political pundit Ann Coulter experienced the verbal version of a back alley mugging at the Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe last Monday. Ann’s ego is rumored to still be in intensive care and not able to eat solids yet.
Jeff Ross was one of Stephen Colbert’s guests on the one year anniversary of him taking over hosting duties on the Late Show. An anniversary that came and went without much fanfare from CBS. In fact, Jeff Ross didn’t even know it was Colbert’s anniversary. Instead, Ross was there to talk about his new Comedy Central special which debuts this weekend, “Jeff Ross Roasts Cops”. However, before any promoting got done, Ann Coulter’s name came up. Colbert claimed to have not seen the Comedy Central Rob Lowe Roast and said that he had heard the comedians had been pretty “harsh” with Ann Coulter and questioned if that was fair. Jeff Ross responded with a question of his own, “How can you be too harsh on Ann Coulter?” The Roastmaster General actually appreciated Coulter being a good sport and complimented the Trump supporter by calling her a “tough lady” and saying “she could handle it”.
Using some Donald Trump strategy of his own, Colbert said “some people” said that it was very inappropriate to call her “a very bad word that begins with a C”. And no Sesame Street fans, in this case, “C” does not stand for cookie. For Jeff Ross, targeting Ann Coulter was too good to pass up once he heard that she was going to be part of the special. His roast philosophy is that “if somebody says ‘Hey, I want to be at this roast’ or ‘I want to be roasted'” then they are absolutely fair game. And that was the rule that he and the rest of the Comedy Central dais applied to Ann Coulter.
Jeff Ross also talked about who he would like to roast next. He said that he would love to get a big name politician in the guest of honor’s chair. A name came up which Ross thought would be a great idea and thought it would actually help her Presidential campaign. Speaking of which, Jeff Ross has a theory on why there is so much venom being spewed back and forth in the current election. Plus, he has an idea for what song should replace “Hail to the Chief” should Donald Trump get elected. You can watch all this in the video below.
The new special, “Jeff Ross Roasts Cops” premieres tonight at 11pm on Comedy Central.
