IFC Orders Second Season of ‘Stan Against Evil’

Back in October, IFC debuted its Buffy the Vampire Slayer-inspired horror-comedy Stan Against Evil. The show stars John C. McGinley (Scrubs) and Janet Varney (You’re The Worst) and follows the story of Willard’s Mill, a small New England town that is teeming with demons and evil spirits. To stop these forces of evil, curmudgeonly former sheriff Stan Miller (McGinley) and current sheriff Evie Barret (Varney) must put aside their differences to hunt down and kick the asses of all 172 demons that inhabit the town.

The show, whose eight-episode first season just wrapped up in November, has done well in the ratings and quickly became one of IFC’s most successful original launches to date. As such, the network has announced that Stan Against Evil will definitely be returning for a second season. Monster slayers, rejoice!

The show was created by The Simpsons and Family Guy contributor/stand-up comic Dana Gould. Gould executive produces alongside Tom Lassally, EP of Silicon Valley and 2011’s Beavis and Butt-Head reboot.

“It was so great to see Stan connect with its fans. Thanks to DVRs, the audience more than doubled each week. That amazed me,” said Gould of the series. “I love the characters and I love the world, and I’m very grateful we all get to go back to Willard’s Mill and blow up more stuff.”

There’s still no word on when we’ll be seeing this second season, so stay tuned to The IBang for more information as it comes!
